Richard Eugene Yanzo, age 77, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday August 6, 2012 in his home. He was born in Bridgeport on May 31, 1935 son of the late John and Blanche Kulas Yanzo. Richard attended former St. Cyril and Methodius Grammar and High School in
Bridgeport. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the US Navy and served proudly on the USS Midway. Upon being honorably discharged, Richard joined the
Bridgeport Fire Department where he was a pumper engineer until his retirement in 1992. Richard enjoyed travel and fine dining, but his pride and joy was his daughter Deborah. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Angelique Andrews and her husband David of Georgetown, MA, two sisters Sylvia Yachymczyk of Bridgeport and Doris (Dolly) DiCarlo of Trumbull, one brother Charles Yanzo of Methuen, MA, three nephews Thomas Yachmczk of Hamden, Mark Yanzo of Manchester, NH and John Yanzo of Methuen, MA., two nieces, Donna Markow of Bridgeport and Jennifer Casey of Seymour. He was predeceased by one brother John H. Yanzo of Seymour and two nephews, Peter DiCarlo of Bridgeport and John C. Yanzo of Seymour. Friends may call on Friday from 9 am to 11 am with his funeral service to follow at 11 am in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton, CT. His burial with full military honors will follow in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery,Trumbull.
