Clarence U. Canfield, 58, of Pawnee City, died Monday morning at the Veterans hospital in Lincoln. He had been in poor health for some time and had been a patient at the hospital on various occasions.
Mr. Canfield was born in Bennet and will be remembered by the older residents.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Ida Mae Shreve of Seneca, Kas.; Mrs. Geneve Vance of Silverton, Colo.. Mrs. Sadie Kelsey of Hay Springs, Nebr., and Mrs. Wilma Lodwig of Hackwood, la.; one brother, Leamon, of Calgary, Alta. Mrs. W. L. McFadden and Mrs. Gale Church of Bennet are cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p. m. at the Hodgman-Splain chapel with Chaplain T. R. Jones in charge. Burial was in the Bennet cemetery. The Bennet Post No. 280 American Legion had charge of the services at the grave.
