He was born in West Warwick. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Araujo) Simas. Arthur was a Custodian for the West Warwick School Department for 20 years, retiring in 1995. A United States Army veteran, he served in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Anthonys Church in West Warwick, where he served on the parish council. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Society. He was a former member of Macs Friday Night Bowling league and had been a coach for Arctic Little League. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

He is remembered by his family and friends as being a gracious and kind man. He was a diehard Boston red Sox fan. He always had a comment and made life fun and interesting.
