Mrs. Ola Matthews Altman of Herbert St., Norfolk, died September 13, 1993, at DePaul Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Altman, formerly of Georgetown, S.C., had been a resident of Norfolk for 45 years.

Mrs. Altman was preceded in death, August 5, 1993, by her loving husband, Rev. Henry C. Altman, after 65 years of beautiful unity in marriage.

Her 70 years of serving our Lord Jesus Christ has touched her numerous friends and loved ones. She attended Coleman Place Chapel and was pianist of all Rev. Altman's ministries and church work prior to her illness.

Mrs. Altman retired from W.T. Grant & Co. after 25 years of employment. She and Rev. Altman were the previous owners of College Park Cleaners in Virginia Beach after eight years of service to the community.

Mrs. Altman is survived by two sons, H. Thomas Altman Sr. of Philadelphia, Pa., and James Leonard Altman of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mrs. Mary M. Mims of Columbia, S.C., and Mrs. Iris M. Pedrick of Georgetown, S.C.; a devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Lina Altman Sanders of Chesapeake; a devoted granddaughter, Miss Dawn Lynn Altman, who resided with Rev. and Mrs. Altman; and granddaughter, Mrs. Amy M. Thatch of Norfolk; four grandsons, H. Thomas Altman Jr. of Virginia Beach, William Henry Altman of Norfolk, James Leonard Altman of Virginia Beach and Ryan Altman of Virginia Beach; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 16, at noon in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Visitation will be this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
