The son of Bernard & Isabella , Fergus enlisted in the A.I.F. at Kelvin Grove,Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 18 July 1940.

He was a member of 2/26 Battalion when he was selected a part of "B" Force. On arrival at Sandakan he became Japanese P.O.W. Number 1454.

He died at Sandakan No 1 Camp from Dysentery and was buried at Sandakan Camp No 1 Cemetery.

In Australia he is commemorated at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra & The Ex POW Memorial Wall at Ballarat, Victoria.
