The remains of Mrs. Katharine Bomford Plummer, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack February 25, 1961 in Alaska, arrive in Chillicothe this morning. A nurse at the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Medical Center for 12 years, Mrs. Plummer was associated with the US Public Health Service for the last 3 years in Wrangell Alaska. She was a 1927 graduate of The Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Dayton OH. She was engaged in the operation of the free Indian-Eskimo Boarding School n southeastern Alaska. More than 200 boys and girls, ranging from 6-16 years attended the school from the sparsely-populated areas of Alaska. Prior to that, she had been a nurse with the Public Health Service in Arizona and New Mexico. A former member of the Chillicothe Business and Professional Women's Club, Mrs. Plummer was elected president of the Wrangell BPW Club in 1960. She also was a member of the Yacht Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Plummer was born November 18, 1904 in the Philippines, the daughter of the late Army Col. George N. and Katharine Muleck Bomford. She is survived by a son, George Plummer and four grandchildren, Charles, Pamela, Mary Katharine and Mitzi, all of Williamsport OH; brother, Russell Bomford of Lake Jackson TX; sisters, Mrs. Virginia Ritzler of Dayton OH and Mrs. W.E. Reiland of Columbus OH. Mrs. Plummer visited her son and his family last summer, after she had renewed her contract for an additional two-year period at the Wrangell School
