Youth, Killed by Runaway Team, Buried on Birthday

MANITOWOC — (U.P.) —
Roland Hassemer, 19, died today of a broken neck received when he was thrown from a wagon by a runaway team of horses.
He will be buried Monday, his 20th birthday.

Francis Creek Accident Victim Dies Of Injuries

Manitowoc, (Special) —
Roland Hassemer, 20, Francis Creek, died at Holy Family hospital here Saturday of injuries received Thursday when he was thrown from a load of hay when a wheel came off the wagon and the team ran away.

Death was pronounced due to internal injuries.

Services were held at the home in Francis Creek and at St. Ann's church there this morning. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hassemer; five brothers, George Jr., Harvey, William, Edward and Louis, and four sisters, Mrs. John Carbon, Emma, Esther and Norma Ann.

Notes from Mishicot:

Injuries which he suffered on Thursday when the wagon which he was riding in lost a wheel and he was thrown to the ground as the horses ran away proved fatal to Roland Hassemer, 20 year old Francis Creek youth. He died Friday morning of his injuries at the Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc.

The youth was driving a team hitched to a wagon in the field on the farm of his father, George Hassemer, when the wheel fell off and young Hassemer was thrown to the ground. He was rushed to the hospital but internal injuries which he suffered proved fatal. The funeral was held Monday morning from St. Anne's church of Francis Creek.

The survivors are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hassemer; five brothers, George Jr., Harvey, William, Edward and Louis, all of Francis Creek and four sisters, Mrs. John Carbon of Branch,, Emma, Esther and Norma Ann, all at home.
