Debra Rae Blaser was born August 26, 1962, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Merle and Jeanette (Fickel) Blaser. She was a beautiful brown eyed little girl who began to have seizures at three month old and showed signs of developmental delays. Her seizures persisted throughout her life despite treatment. At three years old, she was placed in a 24 hour medical facility at the old TB hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, and was transferred to Hastings Regional Center, Hastings, Nebraska, when she reached school age. At age 19, she was moved to Beatrice State Developmental Center and lived there until her death.
Debra was content despite her handicaps. She depended on others to meet her needs. Debra did learn to walk and feed herself, but was most content when left alone, listening to her music. She never learned to talk, but let her needs be met by hollering, smiling, or taking you by the hand to show you what she wanted.
Debra is now reuniting with her father who preceded her in death. He is now seeing her in complete wholeness, light, and joy. She fought the good fight, finished the race, and has been welcomed into an eternal home, where God has prepared a place especially for her.
Debra is survived by:
Mother – Jeanette Blaser of Columbus, NE
Sister – Lynn (Russ) Strehle of Columbus, NE
Niece – Ashley (Jeff) Hartman of Lincoln, NE
Nephew – Taylor (Erin) Strehle of Edgerton, WI
Debra was preceded in death by:
Father – Merle Blaser
Grandparents – Ray & Ruth Blaser and Olga & Werner Geiser
