YAKIMA - Charlie Butler, 103, longtime Yakima area resident, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Charlie was born October 31, 1902, in Osceola, Missouri to John and Lily (Bray) Butler. He married Georgia Mae Gust on September 12, 1934, in Osceola.

He moved the family to Yakima in 1954 and worked many years for Pyramid Orchards. Charlie was proud to have raised thirteen children on a farm workers income. His greatest joy was his family and playing music. He was talented with playing the violin, banjo, harmonica, fiddle, accordion, mandolin and guitar. He also loved singing and dancing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Charlie is survived by his children and their spouses, Emma & John Akins of Zillah, Nadine Akins of Naches, Mary Moore of Iantha, MO, Charlene Moore of Sacramento, CA, Fred Butler of Yakima, Sue & Willie Liggons of Oakland, CA, Don & Ruth Butler of Yakima, Charles E. Butler of Naches, Jerry & Delores Butler of Yakima, Linda & Don Hunt of Roosevelt, UT, Connie & Derrel Phillips of Yakima and Peggy & Ray Doyle of Selah; 32 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Georgia Butler, a daughter, Edith Isaacs, three brothers, six sisters and two grandsons, Christopher Doyle and Michael Butler.

Viewing will be Saturday and Sunday, 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. and Monday, 10 until noon at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be Monday, April 24, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Those planning to attend should meet at the cemetery.

Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
