Born May 2, 1915 in Storrs, Conn. to David E. Warner, Sr. and Eleanor (Gould) Warner, she grew up on the campus of the University of Connecticut where her father was a professor, and where she studied French and History. There she met and married (in 1936) Knute H. Andersson. She participated in many sports, but excelled in basketball, captaining the women’s team in her junior year. She received her B.S. in education at Bridgewater State College.

She and Knute raised three children, Alma Jane, Priscilla, and Knute W., and managed the family Blue Mill Cultivated Blueberry business in Wareham. She taught physical education in Bridgewater and Wareham public schools from 1951 until her retirement in 1974. She took a personal interest in the development of all her students, and particularly enjoyed coaching the girls’ basketball, track and field, and gymnastic teams.

After retirement, she took up square and round dancing where she met her second husband, Arthur “Art” D. Leonard, and founded the Wareham Swingers Square and Round Dance Club for seniors. The club was a special source of happiness and pride for her.

She was a member of the West Wareham Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and president of the Kiwanis Club of Middleboro, Mass. from 1997-1998.

She also belonged to the Blueberry Growers Association, was a member of the R.S.V.P. Community Service Program, the Old Colony Callers Association and American Callers Association for Square and Round Dance; she also belonged to the First Congregational Church of Wareham.

Her life-long interests included, playing the piano, gardening, bird watching, life-guarding, swimming instruction at Little Harbor Beach, New England sports teams, needlecraft, memorable cats and dogs and especially her loving family, and its annual Fall Buckaroo Breakfasts.

She is predeceased by her husbands, Knute (d. 1966) and Art (d. 2003); brother David Warner (d. 2007); eldest daughter, Alma Jane Spinney (d. 2013) and her husband Ralph; and eldest granddaughter, Heather Ann Fagerberg (d. 2003)

Warner, III; and stepchildren Deanie Leonard, Stuart Leonard, Laura Leonard, and Mary L. Wilson, and their families.

She is fondly remembered by her Andersson family in Sweden, particularly Eva Svensson of Lund and Kerstin Andersson of S. Sandby.
