66, of Mt. Sterling, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his residence.
Born July 11, 1948, in Lexington, Kentucky, he was the son of Albert G. and Lorraine N. Clay. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky college of Agriculture. He was a farmer and horse breeder. He was a member of the First Christian Church, The Keeneland Club and Kentucky Owners and Breeders Association. He served in the Ky. Air National Guard and as a director of the Community Trust Bank. He was co-owner of Clay’s Tobacco Warehouse and Clay Enterprises. He was a partner in MCJR, LLC who developed Sunset Ridge and Twin Oaks subdivisions.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Clay; two sons, John Will Clay (Liz) of Santa Monica, CA and Turner Caldwell Clay (Terri) of Lexington, KY.; a daughter, Elizabeth Ruth Clay of Athens, GA.; a brother Robert N. Clay (Blythe) of Lexington, KY.; and a sister, Charlotte Clay Buxton (Mike) of Washington, D.C.
Visitation will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Sterling, KY. on Sunday, May 17, from 6-8pm. with private graveside services to be held on Monday.
Contributions can be made to Clay Community Center or The American Cancer Society. Taul Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
