Augusta Brewer Gorrell, 90 of Newton died 7:27 a.m. Friday January 30, 1987 in St. Anthony Hospital, Effingham, IL Services will be 1:30 p.m. in Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton. Burial in Honey Cemetery, Bogota. Augusta was born in Jasper Co., daughter of Eli and Ora (Cooley) Brewer. She was a member of the Bogota Baptist Church. She married Ralph Gorrell January 21, 1918 in Effingham. She was a homemaker in Smallwood Township until moving to Libertyville in 1945 with her husband while he was employed with Wayne Feed Company in Chicago. They returned to Smallwood Township in 1950 making their home there. Her husband Ralph passed away December 8, 1972. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Paul (Imogene) Nix of Newton; Mrs. Robert (Doris) Gumfory of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a baby daughter, daughter Evelyn and five brothers, four sisters and one great grandchild.
