Curtis Lester Salisbury passed away February 6th, 2005. He was born April 9th, 1925. Curt was a small business owner and father of four. He was born in McCook County, South Dakota and was raised on a farm between Madison and Montrose. At age 17 he relocated to Vancouver, Washington where he worked in the Kaiser Shipyard until joining the U.S. Navy in 1942 in Seattle, Washington. His last station with the Navy was in the Hawaiian Islands. He then returned to South Dakota where he met his future wife, Beverly Kneebone, in 1946. He served in the South Dakota National Gaurd and was sent to Colorado Springs. At that time they opened Camp Carson where the Army trained new troops who were to be sent to Korea. Curtis's next destination was Alaska as a jumping off point to Korea. When the Korean War ended he took his discharge at Anchorage, Alaska.He owned and operated C&D Sandblasting for 30 years, and passing the company to his son. He married Beverly Kneebone in 1947 in Pipestone Minnesota, and remained married until her death in 2002. He was a lifelong Democrat and a patriot. He loved Star Trek, repairing machinery, driving, and hard work. He is preceded in death by his brother, Harris and his wife Beverly. His sister Atha passed in 2008.
