Donald S. “Pat” Adkins, 87, of Bluefield, WV, passed away April 2, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Donald faithfully served his country with the United States Army during WWII He was a former employee of the State of West Virginia and was responsible for immunization within the state. He was also a member of the Bluefield American Legion.

Born Dec. 17, 1924 in Norfolk, VA to Lawrence Frank Adkins (Deceased) and Hazel Stewart-Adkins (1892-1994). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Adkins-Farmer (Deceased) and Charlotte Adkins-Lee (Deceased); one brother, Ivan Adkins (Deceased); and a special life friend, Amanda Lee Sarver (Deceased).

Left to cherish his memory are nephews, Archer D. Farmer Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC, Larry Farmer of Edenton, NC, Bobby Lee of Portsmouth, VA; niece, Candy Hitchcock of Richmond, VA; thirteen great nieces and nephews; and ten great great nieces and nephews; and also two special caregivers, Karen Disibbio and Donna Call.

Graveside services for Donald will be held on Thursday, April 5,2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield, WV.
