Rush Springs - LLOYD ERNEST HENSON, 90, of Rush Springs, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007, in Rush Springs.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, with Jay Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
Ernest was born February 17, 1917 in Okemah, to Jess O. and Clara Francis Johnson Henson. He joined the U.S. Army after his schooling and served during World War II.
He lived in Apache, Lawton, Elgin and Oklahoma City before moving to Rush Springs 16 years ago. He married Floy I. Jones on August 29, 1935 in Okemah. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1984. Ernest was the owner/manager of The Tackle Box for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, listening to fiddle music, and spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include five sons, Floyd E. Henson and wife Mary J. of Oklahoma City, Bennie E. Henson and wife Mary I. of Lawton, Joe W. Henson and wife Gloria of Elgin, Gary D. Henson and wife Sheron of Topeka, Kan., and Lonnie Henson of Smackover, Ark.; a daughter, Patsy J. Hargrove of Lawton; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; his companion, Frankie Anthony of Rush Springs; a stepson, Terry Anthony; a stepdaughter, Rosanne Brown; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie D. Henson and Roger M. Henson; his parents; and six brothers.
Bearers will be Brent Henson, Colt Lightfoot, Roger Hargrove, Chris Buckner, Joe Wayne Henson, Jr. and Gene Allen Henson.
Honorary gearers are Rob Hargrove, Rickey Henson, Ronnie Henson, Nuell Brown and David Cox.
