Charles Adam Shroyer son of William and Lucinda Keist Shroyer was born in Franklin Township, Coshocton County, Ohio, in 1844.
In the Fall of 1857 the family migrated to Kankakee County making the trip in wagons. Coming to Momence Township. There the family settled eventually making a final move to Aroma Township during the War Between the States.
Following the Civil War in 1969 he married Jennie Frith in Kankakee County, Illinois. She was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Frith having been born in 1844 in New York. Using the 1860 and 1920 Census her actual name might of been Martha Jane Frith with her being known by her nick name of Jennie.
In 1867 he applied for a Civil War pension for his war services. During the war he had been wounded at Stone River, Tennessee and also been taken captive being held at Andersonville Prison.
