Burkhart, Warren E.
Warren E Burkhart, 79, of 59 N. Second St., Shillington, died Friday afternoon in Mifflin Health Care Center, Cumru Twp., where he had been a patient for three weeks. He was the husband of Fay G. (Fox) Burkhart. Born in Mohnton, he was the son of the late Oliver Y and Bessie (Kohl) Burkhart. Burkhart had been a junior partner of the former Hosiery Craftsmen, a knitting mill, for 12 years and, for the next 15 years, worked for Rockwell International as a machinist, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Shillington. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Reber Moore Post, Shillington. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Richard E., Arnold, MD., and Dennis L., Wernersville; a stepson, William F Muller, West Lawn; a step daughter Eileen J, wife of Robert L Cooper, Columbus, OH; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also two brothers, Lester L., Reading, and Herman, Sinking Spring; and a sister, myrtle, wife of Chester Sweigart, Ephrata. Bean Funeral Home Inc., Shillington, is in charge of arrangements.
