Doris Raynes Dyess

SEPTEMBER 5, 1930 OCTOBER 17, 2019

Doris Raynes Dyess, age 89, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss, MS. A native and lifelong resident of Jefferson Davis County, MS, she was a retired seamstress having worked for various companies including Movie Star, Inc. in Sumrall, MS and was a member of Greens Creek Baptist Church. Ms. Dyess was preceded in death by her parents, Holland and Frances Raynes; sisters, Gatha Dyess, Addie Mae Breaux, and Jeanette Holloway; and brothers, Samuel Raynes, Frank Raynes, and Shelby Raynes. She is survived by six daughters, Judy (Donald) Jouglard of Hattiesburg, MS, Annette (Ray) Davis of Carson, MS, Geneva (Leffie) Graves, Kathy (Jerry) Holland, and Deborah Yates, all of Bassfield, MS, and Anita Breeland of Sumrall; two sons, Sonny (Shirley) Dyess, and Paul (Kareesa) Dyess, both of Bassfield; two sisters, Patty Sue Ford of El Dorado, AK, and Etoy Turnage of Brookhaven, MS; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, MS. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 19, 2019 and will commence at 2:30pm in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Bob Burge and Reverend Eddie Hartfield presiding. Interment will follow at Greens Creek Cemetery in Jefferson Davis County.
