WORCESTER - Patrick T. O'Connor, 79, of 111 Country Club Blvd., a former city police officer, died yesterday in his home after a long illness.

He leaves his wife, Jayne T. (Banach) Swenson O'Connor; two sons, Gerald P. and Patrick J. O'Connor; a daughter, Eileen P. O'Connor, all of Worcester; a brother, Dr. Paul J. O'Connor of Sutton; a stepson, Kenneth C. Swenson of Oxford; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Patrick T. and Catherine (O'Flaherty) O'Connor, and lived here all his life. He graduated from South High School.

Mr. O'Connor was a Worcester police officer for about 25 years, retiring in 1963 because of a disability. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and the Worcester Police Patrolmen's Association.

The funeral will be held tomorrow from Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 6 to 9 tonight. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions made to the St. Vincent Hospital Oncology Department, 25 Winthrop St., Worcester 01604.
