Hall, Vernon E. and Mary M.

Vernon passed away on August 17, 2018 and Mary (nee Piel) on September 26, 2019, both at the age of 96. Vernon and Mary, long-time residents of Florissant, met on September 14, 1945 and after a courtship of four short months of which a few months were long-distance while Vernon completed his military service, married on January 12, 1946. They celebrated 72 years of marriage and are now together again with our Heavenly Father. They were wonderful parents to Carol (Steve) and Jon Hall, who preceded them in death in 2003, and special and loving grandparents, and preceded in death by Timothy Tooley in 2013.
Dear great-grandparents. Loving uncle and aunt to many.

They were preceded in death by their parents and all of their siblings. Vernon was a veteran of World War II (Coast Guard), and the Korean Conflict (Navy), serving in the Reserves in between. Vernon retired from Union Electric Company in 1986, where both of his brothers also worked and retired. He enjoyed working outdoors and was a life-long sports enthusiast, playing softball and horseshoes himself, and watching his children/grandchildren participate in various sports, as well as following the St. Louis Cardinals, and any other sporting event broadcast on television. Mary, besides being a homemaker, had many hobbies including designer seamstress, china painting, organ, piano, and harmonica playing, and ceramics. They both enjoyed traveling, Big Band and organ music, and spending time with friends in organ music clubs.
