Attended by scores of friends and show-folks from radio, television, stage and screen, impressive funeral rites were said last Saturday for Mrs. Muriel Allen, 31 from the Phillips Temple CME Church. Mrs. Allen, the wife of night club manager Andy Allen, died in General hospital Dec. 13 after being stricken three days earlier, en-route to her place of employment as a secretary for a Los Angeles Sales Corp. She had been a resident of the city since 1936 and actively engaged in junior activities at Phillips Temple of which she was a member. A Business Administration major at Metropolitan School of Business, Mrs. Allen showed a keen interest in piloting many of the couple's theatrical enterprises.
The Rev. M. J. Bell, pastor, Phillips Temple, officiated and remarks by the Rev. George Devrouax were followed with instrumentals by Johnnie Creach and Lorenzo Flennoy.
Survivors beside the widower include a son, Terry Anthony; parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, grandmother, Mrs. Lenora Sanders; aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs Edward Miller, all of this city.
Active pallbearers were: Calvin Frazier, Rudy Rae Moore, Walter Porter, Larry McCormick, Hannibal Picket, Jr. and Chuck Mann. Funeral was directed by the Harrison-Ross Mortuary with interment in Lincoln Memorial Park.
