Mrs. Laura Blake Rodes, wife of Mr. T. M. Rodes, who would have been 67 years of age on Christmas day, drew the drapery of her couch about her and laid down to pleasant dreams at her home in Harriman, Tennessee on Monday morning December 15, 1929, at 10:30 o'clock. She was a native of Fayetteville, the daughter of the late Dr. G. W. Blake, and there was never reared in this town a more loved woman. The beauty of her person was but a type of the beauty of her soul, talented and joyous, the brightness of her nature illuminated every circle she entered. Her father's home was a spiritual place and growing up in such environments she joined the church in her girlhood and to the end of her pilgrimage her life was one of service. Her faith never faltered, nor showed shadow of turning, so that to her the grave was only the door to life eternal. The remains reached Fayetteville Monday and were laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery after service conducted by Rev. R. H. Hudgens and Elder T. C. Little. She was twice married, to Mr. I. W. Grizzard, and then to Mr. Thomas M. Rodes. Surviving her are her husband and a son, Mr. Irwin Grizzard.
