Charlene Ann MacKersie Sloan, 77, of Mesa, AZ, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 peacefully in her sleep, at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, AZ. Charlene was born March 20, 1942, daughter of Howard “Red” and Jessie Sharp-MacKersie of Barryton, MI. She graduated from Barryton High School in l960. After attending Central Michigan University and Davenport University, she worked in Grand Rapids for Lear Siegler in public relations. In 1986, Charlene moved to Mesa, AZ where she became a successful real estate agent.

Charlene will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her contagious smile and her kind heart. She was widely known and loved by her community and friends. Charlene became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in 2011, which inspired her to pour her heart and soul into genealogy for her family and friends.

She was a loving sister, aunt, and second mother to many. Charlene is survived by niece Jolanda “Jill” Sperry-Bertoni, Rancho Cordova, CA and nephew Rick Sperry, Glendale, AZ; great nieces and nephews, Roshanda, Candice, Felicia, Sean, Eli and Savannah; great-great nieces and nephews, Xavier and Autumn; and dear friend Larry Root.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Rhonda MacKersie Sperry and her great nephew Jesse Sperry. A memorial service held Saturday, September 7th in Mesa, AZ with burial in Flake Cemetery, Barryton, MI.
