At age 93, William Pierce Sims Jr., of Hilton Head Island, passed away on August 4, 2017. Bill was born December 23, 1923 to William and Jessie Letcher Sims in Fluvanna, TX. After graduating from Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech) in 1940, Bill served in the Army Air Forces during World War II and then graduated from Georgetown Law School. Bill and his beloved wife, Doris Hannigan Sims, made Bethesda, MD their home while Bill practiced corporate communications law in Washington, DC, eventually serving as managing partner of Dow Lohnes & Albertson. They then moved to Hilton Head where Bill and Doris enjoyed over thirty years of blissful retirement. He was an avid golfer and card player and was known for his quick wit. He also enjoyed doting on and traveling with his family. After more than five decades of marriage, Doris predeceased Bill in 2006. Surviving Bill are three daughters - Karen Langdon (John) of Austin, TX, Rebecca Sims of Redondo Beach, CA and Jennifer Davidson (Mark) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; four grandchildren - Leigh Davidson deHoll (Andrew) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Tyler Davidson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kaitlin Langdon of Atlanta, GA, and Jordan Langdon of Washington DC; and two great-grandchildren - Mary Sims deHoll and David deHoll. He also leaves behind his caretakers, Sally Jinks and Sam Jenkins, who provided him years of care and friendship. The family wants to thank the many dedicated employees at TidePointe and the Broad Creek Care Center.
