William Irwin Barrett Jr. was born in Walton County (probably Jersey), Georgia. He attended North Georgia College beginning in 1940 and later enlisted in the United States Army to serve in Europe during World War 2. He later took over a country store started by his Barrett and Blasingame grandfathers in Jersey, GA for many years and he is still held in respect by many remembering him into the early 21st century. He married Lucille Elizabeth King and had four children. He died at Rockdale Hospital in Monroe, Walton County, Georgia and was buried in Social Circle Cemetery.

Currently unmarked, buried next to daughter Cheryl Juanice Barrett Dempsey (#81019469) and near infant son Charles King Barrett (#81020106). His widow is still living as of 2021.
