Sheri Lynn Wilfong, 33, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 26, 2000. Sheri was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and had lived in the Tidewater area since 1992.

Sheri endured many medical hardships the last 25 years of her life, and will be most remembered for the sweet spirit of submission with which she endured them. Sheri's life was a living testimony for the Lord. She was a ray of sunshine to us, and will be deeply missed by her family and all the members of Christ Gospel Church of Virginia Beach, of which she was a devoted member.

She is survived by her mother, Linda Wilfong; one sister, Michelle Scribano and her husband, Michael, and their children, Sarah and Ethan Scribano; two aunts, Gene Fahs and her husband, James, and their family; Toby Daugherty; Grandma Hazel Daugherty; and cousins, Dale Daugherty and his wife, Laura, and their children, Hannah and Michael, and Chuck Daugherty and his wife, Kristi, and their children, Brandon, Nicholas, Joshua and Carley.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Christ Gospel Church, 5121 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Ted Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving visitors afterward in their home. Affordable Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
