Born John V. Burke, the son of John and Mary Burke of West Virginia, Brother Aidan Burke, C.F.X., served as the treasurer of Mount St. Joseph College (now High School) in Baltimore, Maryland, for twelve years, from 1934 until his death in 1946 at age 64. He joined the Congregation of St. Francis Xavier in 1912, and before coming to Mount St. Joseph, he taught at the schools administered by the Xaverian Brothers in Louisville, Kentucky; Bardstown, Kentucky, and at St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys in Baltimore.
