Son of Joel Ames & Corintha C. Banks. Married April 28, 1915 Keokuk, Lee Co., IA to Susan Barbara Markle. Buried at the Meek's-Oakland Cemetery, near Vincennes, in Lee Co., IA. They had only 2 children: George M. Ames(died young) and Mrs. Susan Mary Utley.

The funeral of the late George Ames was held from his home church Sunday, Dec. 1, the Baptist minister officiating. Mr. Ames was an exceptional young man and died as he lived, praising the Lord.
The deceased was born near Argyle, Iowa, January 7, 1879, and had lived near that place the greater part of his life. He had been in the Santa Fe employ as telegraph operator and station agent for the last fifteen years. He was married to Susan B. Markle, April 28, 1915, and died November 30, 1917. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and eight-months-old daughter, Susan Mary, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Ames of Montrose, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. C. D. Newberry of Argyle; two brothers, Dr. H. B. Ames of Burlington, Okla., and Joseph M. Ames of Argyle, Iowa. When he was seventeen years old, he united with the M. E. church and held his connection with that church until his death, and died in the triumphs of a continuing faith.
