T. J. Holloway, sr. retired Columbia real estate agent, died at 9 o'clock Saturday evening in Kirksville. Mr. Holloway was 84 years of age.
Funeral services were conducted here this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Willett Funeral Home by the Rev. W.J. Lahmon. Pallbearers were: S. F. Conley, J. E. Gillaspie, Emmett McDonnell, William Carter, Leonard Schwabe and J. R. Lipscomb.

Mr. Holloway was born in Randolph county in the year 1854. He attended the public schools of his county and as a young man engaged in farming and later in the mercantile business. He moved to Audrain county where he was engaged in the mercantile business for a number of years. In 1903 he moved to Columbia for the purpose of educating his children and here he successfully engaged in the real estate business from which he retired several years ago and has since spent his time at the homes of his children living in Missouri.

During his active business career Mr. Holloway was a keenly aggressive man in the affairs of his city and his community and not only was he interested in the events of his immediate city and community but he kept abreast of happenings in Randolph and Audrain counties as is substantiated by the fact that for over 25 years Mr. Holloway was a daily visitor at the Tribune offices where he was given the exchange copies of the Mexico and Moberly papers. During his years of citizenship in Columbia he made many friends by his straightforward business practices and his interest in community affairs.

Mr. Holloway is survived by two sons and four daughters who are: Russell E., of Columbia and T.J. Holloway jr. of Boone county; Mrs. Cole W. Campbell, Kirksville; Mrs. W. C. Devier, Knoxville, Tenn; Mrs. Susan Wilson, Monmouth, Ill, and Mrs. L. E. Neill of Columbia.
