US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1833, commenced law practice in Akron, Ohio and appointed postmaster of Akron in 1837. In 1853, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-third Congress, serving until 1855. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he moved to Minnesota, resumed the practice of law and was president of the Winona & St. Peter Railroad during its construction to Rochester. He relocated to Owatonna in 1865 and served as Mayor and City Justice, 1867 to 1870.
