YORK John O. Woodring, Jr., 60, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of Carolyn S. (Henry) Woodring, with whom he celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on March 30, 2007. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at Workinger Semmel F.H. and Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with graveside military rites conducted by the York Co. Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Woodring was born February 4, 1947, in York. He was the son of the late John O. Woodring, Sr. and Louise R. (Mummert) Woodring. Mr. Woodring was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a radio operator near DaNang. He was a member of Marine Corps League, a life member of Kreutz Creek V.F.W. Post #7045, and served as an original committee member to have a Vietnam Veteran added to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. In addition to his wife, Mr. Woodring is survived by a daughter, Rachel S. Holtzman of Groton, Conn.; a son, J. Andrew Woodring of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Cassidy, Dane, and Carly Holtzman, and Alexander Woodring; daughter-in-law Karen Woodring; and son-in-law Donald E. Holtzman, Jr. He is also survived by his sisters Marlene Miller of Bedford County, Florence Frane of Windsor; and brothers William T. Woodring, Glenn Michael Woodring, Anton W. Woodring all of York, and Daniel Woodring of Wrightsville. He was preceded in death by his brother Frederick Woodring in April of 2000 and his sister Joyce Stephens in May of 2007.
