Dora May Broman passed at her home on November 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83. Her family will remember and celebrate her life at Stone Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Stone Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m., Pastor Susan Hitts will officiate. Friends are welcome to begin visiting with Dora’s family at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Dora will be laid to rest next to her husband Harold in Greenwood Cemetery.
She was born Dora May Hankins on November 7, 1936 in Petoskey to Jerald “Jack” and Leta (Moore) Hankins. For many years she worked in downtown Petoskey for McCrory’s and later Woolworth’s department stores.
She married Harold A. Broman Sr., on December 31, 1960 and together they raised four children; Harold Jr. (Patty) Broman of Stanford, FL., Debbie (Ricky L. Zins) of Petoskey, Steven (Pehgi) Broman of Indian River and Ronald (Sandy) Broman of Arizona all of whom survive. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristina Russell, Amanda Broman, Bryan Broman, Mahala (Jonathan Gray) Broman, Cody Broman, Shannon Jacobs, Nicolas Kerr, Tony Broman, Dawn Broman, by her great grandchildren, Cameryn and Samuel Russell, by her sister, Bonnie Atherton and several nieces and nephews, and of course by her dachshund, Navi. Dora was preceded in death by her husband Harold Sr., her parents, one sister Nina Bancroft and by her grandson Garrett Burke.
Dora’s life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother, loving each of her grandkids to the moon and back.
