Kenneth Warren Ackley, age 84, of Aurora, Missouri passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 at his home. He was born August 24, 1935 in Pratt, Kansas, the son of Warren Winston Ackley and Margaret Ann (McNerney) Ackley. Kenneth was a graduate of Aurora High School and served in the United States Army and Provost Marshal Division in Heidleburg, Germany for 2 1/2 years during the Korean War. He was the owner of the Ackley Construction Company and was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora.

Kenneth worked in Construction and farmed for 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Lions Club, Aurora Historical Society and Museum, Lawrence County Historical Society, Ozark Genealogical Society, a member and volunteer of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, member of the Friends of Aurora Library, Wilson Creek Battlefield Foundation, and the Santa Fe Trail Association. He was the sexton of Mount Calvary Cemetery for 17 years andvoluteered at Maple Park Cemetery where he constructd the New Veteran's Memorial for all veterans, both past and present.

On August 31, 1957, he married Patriia Ann Foster in Aurora. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2016. Kenneth is survived by his son, Chris Ackley, and his wife, Mary, of Aurora; three daughters: Tina Ackley of Springfield, Missouri, Suretta Rector and her husband, Tony, of Aurora, and Jill Burlison of Jarrett, Texas; one nephew, Mike Barnett, of Aurora; three nieces: Teri and Kimberly Barnett of Springfield, Missouri and Jimalea Merritt and her husband, Kerry, of Aurora; fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Margaret; wife, Patricia; sister, Jean McCandless; two brothers, Jack and Earl Ackley; and one great-grandson, Jason Williams.

A funeral mass, under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home of Aurora, will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Hoy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora. Burial with full military honors will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2019 in the funeral home chapel.

Memorial donations may be made payable to the Veteran's Memorial at Maple Park Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
