Charles T. Williamson, 92, of Miami, Okla., passed from this life on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. He was born March 20, 1927 in Welch, Okla. to Hubert Williamson and Luella (Morgan) Williamson.

Charles was a World War II veteran, serving his country on the USS New Jersey. After his discharge, he married the love of his life, Maggie Arnold, on July 15, 1946.

He was a skilled meat cutter, owning and operating the Welch Locker Plant for several years. He was also a master carpenter, building and repairing many homes in the area. He loved woodcrafts, reading Louis L’Amour westerns, and working crossword puzzles. He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Miami.

He is preceded in death by his parents; all nine of his siblings; and a great granddaughter, Kaylee Walls.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Maggie, of the home; a daughter, Karen Mead and husband DeWayne of Miami; twins, Rick Williamson of Oswego, Kans., and Vicky Chaney, of Miami; ten grandchildren, Kimberly Douglas-Mankin of Fort Collins, Colorado, Wade Walls of Miami, Scott Walls of Seneca, MO, Todd Walls of Broken Arrow, Okla., Kevin Williamson of Norman, Okla., Cody Williamson of Brighton, Michigan, Jarrod Chaney of rural Bluejacket, Okla., Nicole Chaney of Welch, Jessica Davenport of Adair, Okla., and JoDee Liptak of Bixby; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held in the Chapel of the First Christian Church in Miami from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 7. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, also at the First Christian Church in Miami. Leon Weece and Dr. Brian Brubaker will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Williams Timberhill Cemetery, west of Miami. Grandsons will serve as casket bearers.

Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans Funeral Detail of the American Legion Post 147, Miami, Okla.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund c/o the First Christian Church 2424 North Main Miami, OK 74354.
