William (Bill) Dale Gilbert passed away July 12, 2017, in Pattaya City, Thailand after a long illness. He was 76. Mr. Gilbert lived in many places, but always called Flint his home. Bill was born and raised there, and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1958. He then earned a bachelor's degree in theater from University of Michigan - Flint. A lover of books and reading as well as history and the arts, Bill was an accomplished actor and performed in numerous community theater plays, including Rogues along the River Flint, Our Town, and The Royal Hunt of the Sun. Bill spent a short stint in the U.S. Navy and it was there he developed his passion for travel after visiting New Zealand and Antarctica. He possessed an adventurous and curious spirit: He once booked passage on a container ship that took him around the world, including stops in Vietnam and Thailand.
