Robert Russell “Bobby” Covic was born in Shreveport, LA, on March 27, 1947, and passed away August 22, 2015, in Pattaya, Thailand. Both his parents have passed on, and his two sisters, Susan and Debbie, survive him.
Bobby had many passions throughout his life, drums, cats, and music to name a few. Bobby loved music of all genres, and at one time he had 50,000 CDs, all stored electronically.
In 1977, Bobby moved to South Lake Tahoe, California. He attended dealer’s school and dealt 21 and craps. Bobby also helped many local casino workers when the IRS began to overtax them by estimating their tips. He educated himself on the issue, applied himself and was able to get tax relief for his coworkers.
Inspired by this work, he earned his Enrolled Agent Certification (IRS) and began a long career as a tax litigation consultant in Incline Village. He became passionate with the concept of negotiating, and published two books, Everything’s Negotiable and Masters of Impact Negotiating.
During his years in Incline Village, he married Marti Dunne. Together, he and Marti worked to help establish a no-kill shelter for adoptable cats and dogs in Incline, Pet Network. Although they later divorced, they remained best of friends with a deep and special nurturing love for each other.
Bobby developed a passion for the country and culture of Thailand and took up permanent residence in Pattaya, Thailand in 2011. Bobby took this move very seriously, immersing himself in books on Thai culture and studying the language for several years before he made his move.
Bobby was a tiger, and a lamb. He had incredible spiritual insight, a huge heart, and a love of life. He was a faithful son and a wonderful brother, and his sisters and friends will always feel his loving presence.
Per his request, he was cremated in the Buddhist tradition at the Wat Chai Momgkol Buddhist Temple in Pattaya, Thailand, and his ashes were scattered in the sea off the coast of Pattaya.
