Joseph Bemmerl died at his home in Spring Green Wednesday, May 29 [1935], after months of intense suffering. He was born in Breitenried, Bavaria, Germany, November 12, 1863, and came to America in 1891, arriving at Spring Green on April 27. He immediately began work on a farm in the town of Franklin and on May 4, 1891, was united in marriage to Katrina Paa [Catherine Poa], the ceremony taking place at St. Luke's church in Plain [May 4, 1891]. . . After six years residence in America, Mr. Bemmerl purchased a farm in the town of Franklin which was his home until 1920, when he and his wife moved to New Ulm, Minnesota. They returned in 1926 to Spring Green which has since been the family home. The funeral was held at St. John's church in this village, Saturday, June 1st, Rev. F. Buschelmann officiating and interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery at Plain. . .
