She was born Oct. 29, 1914 in St. Louis, MO to John R. and Effie B. Williams Miller. She married Robert E. Thomas in Jennings, MO on July 18, 1936. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1991. She was also preceded by her parents; daughter, Margaret Ann Thomas; two sisters, Shirley Austin, Doris Norris; and two brothers, Wesley Miller and Richard Miller Jr.
Surviving are three children, Dolores (Vic) Arnold of Sunnyvale, CA, Jeanette (Charles “Pete”) Blackman of Washington, Robert (Ursula) Thomas of Snellville, GA; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Frances was a member of St. Patrick Church in Washington since 1955 where she was also involved in the women’s guild and choir. She was also a member of the Washington garden club.
Frances loved music. She was a member of four choir groups in the Tazewell County area that performed throughout the area and in nursing homes. Bob and Frances always loved the Holidays when the whole family would gather to enjoy the festive dinners and her home-made pies. Until her eyesight deteriorated, she loved to read, crochet, do needle-work crafts, and always willing to play any time, a game of Scrabble with family, friends or neighbors.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick Church in Washington at11:30 am Friday, Nov. 22, 2019. Fr. John Steffen will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30am at the church on Friday prior to Mass. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Patrick Church or OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
