Stephen Michael Hogate, age 45 of Carneys Point died on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Cooper Hospital, Camden, following a courageous three year battle with cancer. Born in Mannington he had been a lifelong Penns Grove-Carneys Point area resident. A 1980 graduate of Penns Grove High School, he had been employed as a warehouse manager for Co-Gen-trex in Carneys Point for the past 12 years. He had been a member of St. James RC Church, Penns Grove, had enjoyed art and had been an avid animal lover. Stephen was predeceased by his mother, Domenica "Minnie" DiGiacinto Hogate in 1986. He is survived by his father, Belford S. "Zeke" Hogate and his wife Dolores of Penns Grove, siblings, Lucy Hogate of Carneys Point, Belford S., III and his wife Terry of Carneys Point, Marie Reilly and her husband Ed of Carneys Point, David Hogate and his wife Betty of Penns Grove, Susan Hogate and Scott Beckman of Penns Grove, Gus Hogate and his wife Nicole of Gibbstown, nieces and nephews, Jennifer Bertolini, Denise Tissmer, Karen Hogate, Mark Hogate, Jim Hogate, Crystal Hogate and April Hogate as well as his two great nephews, Joseph and Domenic Bertolini. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 PM in the Ashcraft Funeral Home, 47 State Street, Penns Grove. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Tuesday in St. James RC Church, State Street, Penns Grove followed by the interment of cremains in New St. Joseph's Cemetery, Swedesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salem County Humane Society, PO Box 214, Carneys Point, NJ 08069.
