Williams worked as a commercial fisherman in Monterey Bay and Alaska before retiring.
He had been a resident of Salinas for 12 years, and had previously lived in Monterey and Torrance. Williams was a native of Yuka, Miss.
He is survived by his wife, Agetha; one daughter, Nancy of Salinas; one sister, Olena Reed of Azalea, Ore.; and one brother, Willis Joe of Memphis, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his son, Russel, who died in 1974.
Rosary will be recited today at 8 p.m. in the El Estero Chapel of Mission Mortuary.
