He went on to have a distinguished career in manufacturing management. He built and expanded factories. He was also skilled at turning around failing companies and making them profitable again.
After a career change in his mid-50s, he served as a deputy sheriff, police officer, sheriff, and police chief. He worked hard to cultivate community policing wherever he served. The kids dubbed him the, "Lollipop Cop" for handing out suckers to them.
He married Krista in Huntington, Indiana in 1997. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Denver Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She survives him.
He is also survived by his two daughters: Kirsten (David) Wilcox and Bethany (Zoe) Cook along with his two adorable grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lin, by only a few months.
He was cremated. His ashes are interred next to his beloved mother in the family plot in Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, Indiana.
