Mrs. Bertha Babb Howard
Greer, June 4 – Mrs. Bertha Babb Howard, 50 died at her home on Pennsylvania avenue Monday night at 11:05 after illness of one month duration.
Mrs. Howard was the widow of the late S. W. Howard who died five years ago and was the daughter of the late Starling and Rachel Babb.
Mrs. Howard has made her home in Greer for the past three years and has made many friends since coming to this community. Before coming to Greer she had resided in the upper section of Greenville county near Mr. Lebanon church and was widely known and has a host of friends in that section.
Surviving are the following children: Lawrence H. howard of Greer, Mrs Marie Burgess of Greer route 1. Mrs. Leatha Burgess of Greer, Mrs., Ruth Parris of Greer Mill Village. Alton Howard of Greer and one step son, Boyce W. Howard of
Greer route 3, one brother, Hilton Babb and one sister, Mrs. Maude Forrester both of Greer route 2.
Mrs. Howard was a member of the El Bethel Baptist church of Greer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock from the Mt. Lebanon Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. james Bruce, assisted by the Rev. Pitman Jones, Interment will follow in the a joining churchyard.
Pallbearers will be Lum Howard, Vardy Howard, Virgil Howard, Tandy Babb, William Forrester, William Henson, Robert Howard and Albert Pitman.
The funeral party will leave the home in Greer Wednesday morning at 10:15 for place of interment.
