Carl M. Bayne, 29, died at his home, Route 3, Travelers Rest, at 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning. He had been ill for the past two years.
Mr. Bayne was born and reared in this county and spent his entire life here. He was a son of Ernest F. Bayne and the late Cordelia Ward Bayne. Until he became ill some months ago, Mr. Bayne was engaged in farming.
He was a member of the Lima Baptist church.
Surviving are his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest F. Bayne, Greenville County; four sisters, Mrs. Velvet Banks, Greenville County; Mrs. Hoyt Camp, Zirconia, North Carolina; Misses Ida and Jewell Bayne, both of Greenville County; and four brothers, Lum Bayne, Zirconia, North Carolina; Jess Bayne, Columbia; Sherman Bayne, Greenville and Pralo Bayne, Greenville County.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Double Springs Baptist Church, the Rev. Floyd McAuley officiating, assisted by the Rev. W. F. Leister. Interment will be made in the family plot in the adjoining cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Otis McDowell, Edgar McDowell, Buford Turner, B. F. Turner, Calvin Cagle and Dean Gosnell.
The escort of honor will be composed of the following: W. C. Bramlett, Arthur Cox, Ernest Goodwin, Albert Carnes, Alvin Jones, Jesse Messer, Clarence Morgan and Joe White.
The flower girls will be Erie Barnett, Beatrice Barnett, Grace Turner, Edna Cagle, Lora Messer and Ulala Me (illegible).
Until 1:30 o'clock today, the body will remain at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.
