Phil passed away peacefully on October 14, 2019 at home with his daughter and wife on either side holding him. He fought a courageous 3-year battle with lung cancer. He was born on November 28, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN. He was the son of Robert and Marjorie Spurgin growing up in Bloomington, MN.

He is survived by his loving wife Lynette, daughter Catherine (fiancé Adam) Spurgin, step sons Branden (Emily) Luther, Brent (Katie) Luther, and Brandt (girlfriend Jess) Luther and 2 grandchildren, Zaiden and Aylin Luther. Brother in laws Richard (Jeanette) Taylor, Charles (Lisa) Taylor, James (Becky) Taylor, Robert (Marsha) Taylor and sister in law Lori (Bruce) Smith and many nieces and nephews.

He was one of 11 children, placed right in the middle. He was in the service for 14 years during Desert Storm. Phil worked as a commercial dry wall/taper for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Tom, nephew Trye, father and mother in law Earle and Betty Jane Taylor. He will be remembered by his life-long friends Jerry and Sheryl Cartright.

Phil was a family man and loved fishing and hunting with his best friend (brother) Mike. He loved to fly, time spent with family and being at home taking care of his yard. His easy going personality and warmth will be missed dearly.
