J. C. came to Harriettsville, Ohio in 1849. He was on of the largest tobacco growers in Noble Co., and had a leading general store in the area.
Mr. Wernecke always gave hearty support to education and religous interests, and was a leading member of the Luthern church.
J. C. was the son of Diedrich Henry and Fredericka Charlotta Lizabeta (Galbernagle) Werneche.
