Charles Richard "Dick" Eubanks
23 Jul 1938 ~ 22 Nov 2019

Charles Richard "Dick" Eubanks (a man of infinite wisdom and unending love and devotion) was born in Springfield, Ohio, on July 23, 1938, to Lamar S. Eubanks and Gladys Leah Gram Eubanks.

He passed away unexpectedly at home in Murray, Utah, on November 22, 2019.

Dick graduated from Ohio State University in 1961 and married his high school sweetheart, Carol Ann Hodge, on June 23, 1962.

They started their family in Cumberland, Maryland, where he launched a 33-year career with Hercules as an aerospace engineer.

Their family expanded as they moved to Utah, New Jersey, Florida, and back to Utah, where they set down their final roots, now complete with their four children.

Dick retired in 1994 and spent his time doing what he loved...fiercely nurturing relationships with his family and his many friends. After retirement, Dick loved spending weekly time with his buddies, fishing, golfing and taking bridge lessons.

He was a long-time active member of Christ United Methodist Church. He and Carol loved to travel and helped raise their only grandchild, C.P. Eubanks, son of Leah. Dick was especially proud of calling himself a "stay-at-home grandpa."

Dick will be sorely missed by those left behind: Carol, daughters Leah and Tina; sons, Todd and Kent; grandchild, Charles Patrick Ripley "C.P." Eubanks; sister, Pam Larrick; sister-in-law, Judy Eubanks; nephews Rick, Brian, and Justin; niece, Lauren; and many cousins.

Gone before him were his father and mother, his stepmother, Betty, his beloved brothers, Tommy and Dave, in-laws, Clarence and Mildred Hodge, friends and a slew of ancestors.

Services include a viewing at Holbrook Mortuary on Friday, November 29, 2019, from 10-11 AM, followed by a graveside service for family and close friends at Elysian Gardens.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 East 3300 South, on Saturday, December 7, at 11 AM.

Published in Deseret News from Nov. 26 to Nov. 27, 2019Charles Richard "Dick" Eubanks (a man of infinite wisdom and unending love and devotion) was born in Springfield, Ohio, on July 23, 1938, the second of three boys, to Lamar S. Eubanks and Gladys Leah Gram Eubanks. He passed away unexpectedly at home in Murray, Utah, on November 22, 2019.

Dick grew up in Springfield and met his future wife, Carol Ann Hodge, when Carol and her family moved into Dick's neighborhood; they began dating and attended Springfield High School together. Dick graduated high school and left to earn a degree in aerospace engineering from Ohio State. After graduation and as soon as he secured a career with Hercules in 1961, he made arrangements for a new home in Cumberland, Maryland, and asked Carol, "the only woman [he] ever cared about" to be his wife. They were married on June 23,1962, in Springfield and set up housekeeping in Maryland, where they soon started their family. Dick and Carol were soon transferred to Utah, then New Jersey, to Florida, and back to Utah, where by this time, their now-family of six was settled. Dick never missed an opportunity to make roadside stops at anyplace even remotely interesting on all the cross-country treks.

Dick retired from Hercules in 1994, after 33 years of service. He spent his retired years doing the things he loved most. First and foremost, Dick loved his family, his church family and his friends beyond measure and spent his time nurturing those relationships. He enjoyed many years of fishing, playing golf, and taking bridge lesson, weekly, with his buddies. He and Carol traveled all over and had oodles of wonderful memories of their adventures.

Dick was a fierce father and family man. He will be sorely missed by those he leaves behind: Carol, his daughters Leah and Tina, and his sons, Todd and Kent, and of course his sole grandchild, son of Leah, whom he and Carol helped raise, Charles Patrick Ripley "C.P." Eubanks. Other family members left behind include his sister, Pam Eubanks, his sister-in-law, Judy Eubanks, his nephews Rick, Brian, Justin and niece, Lauren, and many cousins, with whom he grew up.

Gone before him and waiting to greet him when he passed over were his father and mother, his stepmother, Betty, his beloved brothers, Tommy and Dave, his in-laws, Clarence and Mildred Hodge, and a slew of ancestors.

Services for Dick include a viewing at Holbrook Mortuary on Friday, November 29, 2019, from 10-11 AM followed by a graveside service for family and friends at Elysian Gardens.
