He was born June 19, 1924 in Westborough, MA to Ralph and Nettie (Goodwin) Goddard.
He grew up in Westborough and graduated from Westborough High School where he played on the baseball, basketball and football teams and served as his class treasurer.
In 1942 he installed in the U.S. Naval Reserve and in 1943 transferred to the United States Army where he served in Normandy, Northern France, Germany and Japan. He received the AEME Campaign Ribbon with 3 Battle Stars and the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon. He also played for the U.S. Army Baseball & Softball Teams.
In 1949, he married Roberta (Weir) Goddard of Manchester. Together they raised four sons, while living in Westborough, MA, Salisbury and Merrimack, NH. Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Manchester.
He worked most of his life as the National & Canadian Sales Rep. for the Harry Miller Co. of Boston, MA.
His hobbies included traveling, golf, music and spending time with his family.
He is predeceased by a granddaughter Erin Goddard. In addition to his wife members of his family include, four sons and two daughters in-law, Charles R. Goddard Jr. of E. Brookfield, MA, Kenneth P. and Janet Goddard of Merrimack, Rand C. & Sandra Goddard of Nashua, and Barry F. Goddard of Manchester, four grandchildren, Kristi Lane, Stacie, Melody and Kenny Goddard, three great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Megan and Michael Lane Jr. and several nieces and nephews.
