Mrs. Garrett passed away February 8, 2003 due to a lengthy illness. She was born in Alexandria, LA. She was a resident of Shreveport since 1924. She was a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Garrett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport, a member of PEO Chapter B for over 60 years where she served as treasurer. She was a member of the Women's Department Club and Garden Club. She was well known for her pound cakes and arranging flowers, especially camellias. She graduated from Schumpert Nursing School, where she continued her nursing career until her marriage in 1941 to Dr. George G. Garrett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George G. Garrett; sisters: Berniece Tynes, Estelle Ingalls and Mildred Hightower; brothers, Curtis Andries and Clint Andries.
She is survived by her sister, Lois A. Ussery; brother, Frederick N. Andries and wife, Bet, all of Shreveport, LA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Cody White, Sidney Nelson, Billy Lynch and Ted Rushton.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses who cared for Mrs. Garrett.
