Sallie Bell Gunter Swanigan, 77, died Sept. 12, 2013, at Windsor Nursing Home. Services are Wednesday at 1 p.m. at 15th Street Church of God in Christ with Marion Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Pilgrim MB Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-8 p.m. at Carter's of Columbus. Ms. Swanigan was born Dec. 10, 1935, to the late Claiborne Gunter and Etta Virginia Harris. She was formerly employed as a sales clerk at Ruth Shop. She was a 1954 graduate of R.E. Hunt and a member of 15th Street Church of God in Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Felicia Ellis; and sister, Mary Etta Gunter Wilson. Survivors include her son, Darryl D. Willis of Little Rock, Ark.; siblings, William C. Harris and Emma L. Gunter, both of Hepzibah, Ga., Nat C. Gunter of Rock Island, Ill., and John E. Gunter of Milan, Ill.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
