Ruth Lorene Keaton-Jenkins, 97, of the Old Lerona Road, Lerona, died early Sunday morning, September 14, 2014, at the home of her daughter at Rocky Gap, VA, with her loving family at her side. Lorene educated in Lerona and Athens, was a lifelong resident of Lerona. She retired from the Maidenform Corporation in Princeton with more than 35 years of service and was a member of the ILGUW. Lorene was the oldest living member of Lerona United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & friend. While her health permitted, she loved to can vegetables and work in her garden. The most important thing in her life was supporting and attending all the sporting events her grandchildren and great- grandchildren were involved in during the time they were in school. She also enjoyed traveling around the country.

Born May 18, 1917, at Lerona, she was the daughter of the late William Robert Keaton (1886-1963) & Anna "Annie" Belle Tolley-Keaton (1889-1980). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Keaton (1911-Deceased) whom she married on August 27, 1934 in Princeton, Mercer County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Mercer County, WV, 1934, Page 56, Line 2, Application Date: August 27, 1934); her second husband, Carl Jenkins (Deceased); two brothers, Raymond E. Keaton (1913-1936) & Boyd Haynes Keaton (1915-2006); an infant sister (Deceased); son-in-law, Kenneth Wood (Deceased); and four stepchildren.

Survivors include her devoted children and their spouses, Kenny Franklin Keaton (1935-2020) & wife Dolores “Dee” Ochs-Keaton, Charles William Keaton & wife Rosa Keaton all of Pipestem, Stephen F. Keaton & wife Betty Keaton of Lerona, & Janet L. Keaton-Kennedy & husband Jess Kennedy of Rocky Gap, VA; eleven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Roy Jenkins and Troy Jenkins of Princeton, WV, Chester Jenkins of MI, Margaret Jenkins-White of TX, Rose Jenkins-Ladeaux of LA and Arthur Jenkins of FL; and many step-grandchildren & great grandchildren in the Jenkins family.

On Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., we will celebrate the life of Ruth Lorene Keaton-Jenkins from the Lerona United Methodist Church in Lerona with Pastor David White officiating. Burial will follow in the Farley-Keaton Cemetery on Browns Ridge Road, Lerona.
